PROSPERO – Europe’s Unified 6G Network Architecture
Project Summary
PROSPERO addresses the core challenges of next-generation 6G connectivity: fragmentation, high energy consumption, and over-reliance on proprietary technologies. By proposing a Uniform, Integrated and Simplified (UIS) 6G architecture, PROSPERO unifies connectivity, intelligence, and sustainability within one coherent framework.
Built around three operator-driven priorities – 1) reducing Total Cost of Ownership, 2) enabling new revenue streams, and 3) strengthening network resilience – PROSPERO delivers technically validated solutions through targeted Proofs of Concept. The project supports Europe’s green transition, reduces dependence on proprietary systems, and establishes a standards-aligned blueprint for the future of 6G networks.

Objectives and Goals
PROSPERO’s core objective is to design and validate a Uniform, Integrated and Simplified (UIS) 6G architecture that simplifies network deployment and reduces Total Cost of Ownership for telecom operators. Key goals include natively embedding AI-driven automation, improving energy efficiency, unlocking new revenue streams, and reducing dependence on proprietary technologies. By actively contributing to global 6G standardisation, PROSPERO reinforces European leadership in next-generation network development.

PROSPERO’s 6G innovation is built on five strategic paradigms: architectural simplification to reduce fragmentation and deployment costs; global operations enabling trusted multi-stakeholder collaboration; native AI integration for intelligent automation and new services; sustainability by design through energy-aware, resource-efficient mechanisms; and seamless management frameworks across cloud, edge, and operator environments.
